Position: Certified Personal Trainer

PART-TIME (5-20 hrs/wk) / COMPETITIVE PAY

Recreation Fitness is looking for a passionate, creative, experienced trainer to join our team. Training will be performed virtually via zoom, as well as in-person at Long Beach area clients’ homes/outdoors with social distancing practices.

Recreation Fitness focuses on specialized training for clients with therapeutic needs, and our collaborative approach enables us to take on challenging cases with confidence and support. We are looking for a true team player who is confident in their abilities, is willing to share knowledge, and is open to learning from their teammates.


Our focus: 

  • training for neurological and/or chronic conditions, like Parkinson’s disease, dementia, stroke rehab, traumatic brain injury (TBI), etc.

  • injury post-rehab

  • helping our clients age gracefully and maintain quality of life


Applicants with specialty certifications, experience working with aging adults, and/or experience working in a physical therapy setting will be strongly considered.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide personal training clients with thoughtful, specialized training programs that address their needs and goals

  • Lead group fitness classes and new client consultations

  • Attend monthly team meetings, and other trainings/meetings as necessary

  • Perform essential administrative duties including online scheduling, collecting and reviewing client intake paperwork, processing payments, recording attendance, and advising clients who need to renew their memberships

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field (preferred)

  • Personal training or group fitness certification (required)

  • 4+ years experience in personal training or group fitness instruction

  • PWR!Moves or LSVT/BIG certifications (a plus)

  • Work experience with clients who have neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s, dementia, stroke rehab, brain injury, etc (a plus)

  • Work experience in a physical therapy environment (a plus)

  • Must have current CPR/AED certification

  • Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for clients
