The heat is on!

Hot and humid weather means extra precautions are necessary while exercising. Please keep in mind, particularly during summer months, that humidity makes you sweat more, so increase your daily water intake by 50%, particularly the water you drink 60-min before exercising. On very hot days, move your cardio to the shade or in a well-ventilated indoor area, and take breaks more often to allow your body to cool down. Avoid exercising outdoors during peak sunlight hours; instead, opt for early morning runs or evening exercise classes. And remember, the symptoms of dehydration can sometimes resemble hunger, so be sure to have an extra glass of water before you eat that additional snack, just in case.

Perhaps this may be a good time to take your weekend workouts to cooler places, like indoor ice skating, swimming, kayaking, and water skiing. Go have an adventure!
